Skeletons are Falling Out the Closet, and Attics too!

America's problems can no longer be "swept under the rug."  In every corner of the country, the inequalities of years past are becoming transparent - "in your face" so to speak.  Racism is kicking down the doors of cloaked animosity, showing its "true colors" in public gatherings, in congressional decrees, in hierarchical organizational structures within government and businesses, within the American people of this "melting pot" of cultures and ethnic groups that call the United States of America home.  After hundreds of years in this country, still there are those who think themselves superior to others for whatever reason.  A plethora of atrocities and inequities that have been exposed from America's past have never really been addressed in a politically-charged forum to provide justice for those who were persecuted, killed/lynched AND punishment for those who were guilty.  Those injustices were put away into the darkest closets and attics of America.

And, this "superiority complex" is reflected in protests against fundamental healthcare for all citizens of America.  Should only the rich, well-connected, and highly-paid employees of "corporate America" have adequate health insurance to fall back on in times of illness?  What about the poor, the underpaid, the currently unemployed and the proverbial unemployables, the underemployed, the dwindling middle class?  After surviving one of the worst recessions in decades, many Americans are down and out trying to reach a plateau onto which they can rest for a short while - and live a decent life - provide for their families, keep a roof over their heads, and stay out of the bread line.  This misguided complex has also caused numerous politically inclined Americans to vote down an increase in minimum wage - raising the minimum on a federal level (throughout the nation) to $9 or $10 hr has been rejected by many in high political offices.  How can those politicians possibly think that earning $18,000 - $20,000 a year is too much for a person working a full-time job (40 hours a week; 52 weeks per year - maybe a week off for vacation, if they get vacation time)?  And many of these people (not counting teenagers who may still be living at home with their parents, while working a full-time job) are now considered to be the "working poor" - they work all year long, and still can not adequately provide for their families.  But, the bankers who stole millions of dollars were bailed out by the American financial system - rescued, but scolded to thread lightly (until next time).  The situation in America is dire indeed.

However, there are those Americans who are truly "living large" and it seems have not been affected by the recent recession and its financial vibrations - the rich, the well-to-do.  And, there are those who would rather purge their conscience of the injustices and inequities that were manifested in America, than take any action to rebuke the transgressors; they don't want to "rock the boat" since they're sailing smoothly.  U.S. House of Representatives (controlled by Republicans) would rather the American government shut-down, than pass a bill so that America can continue to function financially!  And, what is their main objection?  The Republicans want to destroy the Health Care Act that will implement insurance for the multitude of uninsured Americans - really!  The Republicans and House of Representatives should be ashamed!

Today, in the 21st century of America, the closets and attics are being aired out.  How will this be reflected in the history books?  I guess it depends on who's writing those books to educate the future citizens of America.  Will they be mis-educated?  Or will the truth and nothing but the truth be exposed?  Well, this is my "$1.20 cents" worth.  I do not have any authority to take the actions that are necessary to eradicate the evil from within, but I can and will continue to voice my opinion to America, and to the world.

Chocolate is soothing and nourishing to my mind;
one of my small enjoyments of life - enjoy!
